For most people, the stock market is a complete mystery. It’s a world where incomprehensible jargon rules the roost and where you need an advanced degree in maths just to understand what’s going on. But you understand that sort of stuff, right?
No, you don’t! But then again, that’s what makes the stock market so fascinating. It’s why we pay to see Hollywood movies about lunatic traders who make millions before lunchtime, then lose it all again before the end of the day.
The problem with the stock exchange is that until now you needed a stack of cash and a lot of financial know-how to play the markets. BUX is going to change all that. Let’s face it: thanks to Uber, everyone’s got their own private driver nowadays. And Instagram means anyone can feel like being a professional photographer. So why is everything still so extremely complicated when it comes to the stock market? With BUX, we want to give everyone the opportunity to discover the magic of the stock exchange, even if right now, you’re totally clueless about the markets.
How? And what with? For now we’re keeping that to ourselves. But if you sign up for our beta test, you can be one of the first to try out the fruits of our labour ... Go on! You know you want to!
Bux is an initiative from the minds of Nick Bortot, ex-BinckBank; Robbert Bos, ex-Spil Games; Egbert Pronk, ex-VDM and Joost van de Wijgerd, ex-eBuddy.
We’re always on the lookout for the best people. We can’t offer you a company car, a comprehensive pension plan or a discount fitness club membership. But what we will give you is a start-up attitude in an informal, small, but massively talented team based on Amsterdam’s beautiful Keizersgracht. Beat that Google!
From concept to global domination

Orange Growth Capital, the European fin tech VC founded by two former McKinsey-partners, is enthusiastic about our plans for BUX. In December, we secure their investment.
After a long search, we complement the management team with tech-specialist and serial entrepreneur, Joost van de Wijgerd (ex-eBuddy).
We find a brilliant designer (Ramon Gervais, ex-Marktplaats and Hyves) and start product development.
We find six top-notch back- and front-end developers and start to build the BUX platform.
A big moment! Our hard work pays off and we have a working prototype!
In Niels Vrijhoeven, we’ve found a creative marketeer who wants to explore marketing as journalism. Together with writer/journalist Stephan Zmiric, he makes a start on the preparations for marketing. Tim Vogel takes on the performance side of marketing.
We’re satisfied that the product is good enough to be tested by a small group of friends and acquaintances.
